Pamplona, fundada el
primero de noviembre de 1549, es el municipio más antiguo del departamento de
Norte de Santander y fue el punto de partida de quienes crearon ciudades como
Ocaña, Bucaramanga y Cúcuta (a 75 km al norte). Con una temperatura promedio de
16 ºC, Pamplona descansa en el valle del Espíritu Santo y es arropada por
la bruma de los cerros que la rodean.
Pamplona
was founded 1st November of 1549. It is the oldest municipality of the
department of Norte de Santander. In addition, the people who built up cities
such as Ocaña, Bucaramanga and Cúcuta firstly started to build Pamplona. The
average temperature of the town oscillates 16 °c. Pamplona is situated on the Holy
Spirit valley, as it is surrounded by many mountains, it is usually seen the
whole small city being covered by a marvelous fog.

los viajeros que llegan a Pamplona. En esta ciudad, bautizada en homenaje a la
capital de la provincia española de Navarra, se vive la Semana Santa con un
fervor especial y es posible caminar por calles estrechas que se iluminan con
faroles.
Foreigners and visitors can enjoy the colonial architecture of the houses, to visit the churches of the town as well as to admire the sculptures crafted by Mr. Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar, if they have some time in their itinerary. Holy Week is a special date for religious people who live the festivity with devotion. At that time, the narrow streets are decorated with lamps so, to go for a walk is quite recommended in order to witness the beauty of the town during the celebration. Pamplona got its name in honor to the Spain’s province of Navarra.
